Houston Got Fed Up With The Media...And Fought Back!

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more

Here on Active Rain and just about Every other Real Estate Related Network across the Nation, Real Estate Professionals- Including myself- Have written FACTS about our LOCAL Market.  We have stated time and time again how the Media is Simply incorrect in, Well, almost all of their coverage.

Houston TX, has decided to do something about it.  Our Market was #1 in 2006 for Residential Permits issued, and in 2007 our overall market was actually Really Good!  As of 2 Months ago there were only 2 Cities in the Nation with Inventory lower than us.

What did Houston do to Fight Back?

Check out www.HoustonFacts.org  and find out.   :) Let's just say that you will find REAL and TRUE local statistics there.  Are there any other cities across the Nation doing this?

I hate the media.  I wish that everyone would stop listening to them and leave the real estate market conditions up to the professionals.

Stephanie,

I love it when local governments take the initiative to assist the real estate market...for example, Jo Smith in Canada mentioned on a recent post how some places in Canada were rebating a portion of transfer taxes for first time homebuyers on primary residences...they were eligible for up to $2,000 dollars in rebates...what a great idea!

Other areas should take heed and follow suit!

Thanks,   Fran

Hi Bronson,  I don't hate the media- but I'm glad that Houston has done this.

Thanks Katerina!

Hi JL, thanks for stopping by.

Hi Mary, Thanks to you also.  :)

Hi Teri, YES!  :)  I am pretty sure it was our builders association that put this together.  I think it was a fantastic idea!

Hi Konnie,  I totally agree.  The media must not have anything to gripe about...  :)

Hi Sandra,  There is also a HUGE advertising campaign around this website.  I have heard it on the radio, they kicked it off by talking about it on the local news...etc.

Hi Mana,  So true, So true...

Hi Fran,  I don't believe that the City Government had anything to do with it (althought I do like your statement.  :)  I think this was our Builders Association.  GHBA  I know they use Metro Study..???

Hi Lynda,  I agree!  I think I will send them an email to find out how it is going...

Hi Matt,   Amazing isn't it.  :)  Nice to see you drop by!!
