4th of July Fireworks

As you can see...I'M BACK!  What a great time we had at Disney World!  Florida was beautiful just the way I remember it from so many years ago.  It rained a little each day, enough to keep the temperature down some.  Except Friday, it rained for a long time late afternoon, but that was ok.

The kids had a great time.  The picture is from the 4th of July Fireworks at MGM.  My son's first time to see Fireworks. Ahhh.  I thought I would share some photos with all of you.

We left early Monday morning.  Our flight was late taking off and the whole flight left a lot to be desired.  But that is another post.  Let's focus on the fun, positive parts.  :)  We went to Downtown Disney Monday evening and did some shopping and ate at Planet Hollywood.  We thought it would be a good idea to get to bed early for some fun the next day.

Port Orleans French Quarter

We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter.  I did some research before I chose it. It is one of the smaller hotels on site (I don't like huge crowds), it has a Food Court with kid friendly food, first stop for the buses to the park (didn't have to stand on the way to the parks), and it has a really neat pool.  :)  Our room had a nice view of the water and we got to watch the boats go by.  Right across was the Golf Course I guess from Old Key West.  Couldn't quite figure that one out.  Great view.

Elephant at Animal Kingdom

We went to Animal Kingdom and Epcot the next day.  With a nap in between for my little man.  I think all of the animals were out. If not, I can't imagine what we didn't see.  There were a lot!  The kids loved Camp Minnie Mickey and got to meet lots of characters.  My daughter ended up with close to 20 autographs throughout the week and my son screamed when he couldn't get close enough to hug them.  So cute.

We spent the morning of July 4th at Magic Kingdom and the night at MGM.  My hubby and daughter loved the Star Wars Simulator.  I thought it was pretty neat myself.  My son was bored all evening and we had to play a lot of tickle feet to keep him happy.  We went on Space Mountain early in the day.  Courtney being 10 loved all of the rides!

We stayed for Extra Magic Hours that night and did the Dance Party with Playhouse Disney.  This was so neat.  If you have young kids you have to do this!  Dancing with Mickey, Goofy, JoJo, Goliath....wow.  Party kiddo style.

The Weather was not too hot which made it great!  Humidity was pretty low also, at least compared to Houston.

We went over to Typhoon Lagoon in the morning on Thursday and went on Crush N Gusher.  Then headed over to Epcot again in the evening.  If you haven't seen the show they do at night there...it's awesome!  The wait for Test Track at one point was 200 minutes. No, I didn't put too many 0's.  No more Fast Passes available for the day.  It got down to 90 minutes but we didn't think it would be worth the wait.

We also did the Dining Plan.  If you want to do Character Meals I HIGHLY recommend this.  This was the Play N Dine Breakfast at MGM.  Without the Dining Plan it would have been $75.  Holy Cow.  Most expensive buffet I have ever been to.  :)

We went back to Magic Kingdom that afternoon in time for the Parade and stayed late.  Last night there so we thought we would make the most of it. It rained cats and dogs Friday afternoon and evening, my son sounded like he was coming down with a cold so we left after the fireworks.

We hit the kid rides this time.  Oh, and we did Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Woo Hoo!  My daughter was ticked that I was making her do a train ride...until she found out it was a roller coaster.  Hee Hee.  She was happy again.

We didn't have time to do a whole lot on Saturday.  Our flight left at 2:55 pm so we just hung out around the hotel in the morning. Dang it was humid yesterday!  Glad we stayed indoors and not in one of the parks!

The flight home was MUCH better...until of course when we were about to land (literally as we were descending) my son unloaded his stomach.  Not a pretty sight.  Atleast it was at the end of the flight.  :)

It was so nice to get home.

We did SO much while we were there. I didn't want to bore all of you with the detailed, details.  My daughter wants to go back next year.  Might have to drive next time.  :)

Welcome back Stephanie!  Sounds like you had a great time and made some fantastic memories.  We're out until Saturday "recharging our batteries".  Hope it's drying out down there.

Wow, looks like tons of fun! I wish I'd have gone. Though after a vacation like that, I'm sure it's tough to get back to work.

Good luck,

Disney land is soooo much fun -- I love going back every few years.  It is very magical and kids have such a great time.  The characters have enduring for all these many years!  A real tribute to the disney creators.  I also love Epcot and the magical parade in the evening.  Glad you had a good time and welcome back.

Sounds like you had a fun time... I just have one question about the trip.  When you were at Downtown Disney, did you make it to Disney Quest to play all the video games with the kids?  That has become my favorite place there because I can play some of the classic along with the newest top games.

Jealous jealous jealous!!!  I AM JEALOUS!  Being from California, we have annual passes to the Disneyland Resort in SoCal but my family and I really want to make our way to Walt Disney World!  I hear EPCOT and the Downtown Disney district are the place to be!  Welcome back!

Thanks Stacy and Jackie, glad to hear that you are taking a break too.  It rained for just a few minutes today.  I hear it was pretty bad last week.  Glad I wasn't here.  :)

Hi Christopher and Bernadette, Not hard to get back to work.  :)  I'm a workaholic.  If I won lotto, I would re-invest in marketing.  Hubby thinks thinks I'm a little loco, but that's me.  I would just get to take a few more vacations.

Hi Joan, it had been 20 years since I had been there.  It had changed so much.  I will have to go back in the next couple of years.  Definitely.  When my son is old enough to listen and obey.  :)  At 21 months it was a little stressful at times.  Thanks, and it's so good to be back.

Hi Jason, We went to Disney Quest but didn't stay long enough. I was confused...do you have to get credits to play some of the games?  My son started a temper tantrum like you wouldn't believe so we left.  I was going to take my daughter back but we ran out of time.  Boo.  :)  We will go again next time.

Hi Chris,  I think you are lucky to have season passes to Disney Land!  I also think you should go to Disney World.  It is a magical place.  That's for sure.  Epcot is really neat...what they have done is amazing.

Hi David, I bet you will have fun.  My daughter wants to go back next year but I wonder if we shouldn't go back in 2 years.  My son will be almost 4 then.  He has such amazing perseverance (in lieu of stubborn)  :)  I think he should be older when we go back.  I hope you get to go and have fun!

Stephanie,

Welcome back and thanks for the tour of Disney World. Believe it or not, I have never been there. But it sounds like you had fun with your family and you got to re-charge your batteries.

The first week in August I am going to the Outer Banks (Avon, NC). I am looking forward to that so I can just relax and hopefully we do not get any ActiveRain. Take care.

No credits for Disney Quest.  Pay the fee to walk through the doors and then play your heart out.  All the games are unlimited play, no extra money needed (at least that is how it was the last time I went.)  Your son is going to regret the tantrum when he finds out what he missed.  Especially, the Buzz Lightyear tank/cannon blast and Pirates of the Caribbean 3D virtual reality game.

My sister works over at DW - in the floral dept. part time.  She loves it - knows where all the "Secret tunnels" are now...

Glad to have you back!  Now I've got to figure out OUR vacation - with a newborn it can be hard.

Hi Chuck, sounds like that will be a relaxing vacation! I hope it stays dry too.  We had a good time and will probably be back in the next year or two.

Hey Sally, I'm glad to be back too.  :)  Back to work...hit the ground running and putting out fires already.  So good to be home.

Thanks Bill!

Hey Jason, My son is only 21 months...he will appreciate it in a few years.  :)  My daughter can't wait to go back.  There were some machines that kept asking for credits.  I was going to swipe my room key...but didn't know what it would do.  About the time I was going to ask was the time my son got all fussy.  We'll hit it next time.  We will definitely go back.  Will probably drive though. I can't handle anymore anxiety attacks.  If that wasn't what I had on the plane, it had to be close.

AAH!  The Alligator has Lisa!  :)  It was a fun place.  Smaller and quiet.  My kinda place!

Hey Jeff, that would be a tough one. We went to San Antonio last year when my son was smaller.  But he wasn't that little.  :) Good Luck and I hope you find an awesome vacation place.  By the way, does your sister get discount tickets?  :)  Just kidding.

Thanks JaneAnne, I thought you would like that one.  It's hard to read but it talks about preserving GREEN space and green building.  That would be a GREAT post!  I am trying to research the GREEN building part of WDW.  I was pumped to see that.  :)
